The winner raffle will recieve a 21 foot outboard boat. If 6000 raffle tickets were sold and you purchased 30 tickets, what are the odds against your winning the boat?

    Odds against would the number of *unfavorable* outcomes (5970) to *favorable* outcomes (30)
    5970 : 30
    You can reduct this to:
    199 : 1
    Answer:
    Odds are 199 to 1 against
    *Unfavorable would be any of the other 5970 tickets getting picked. Favorable would be any of your 30 tickets getting picked.

    Now divide both sides by 30 to simplify-
    Now the ratio is 1:199
    The odds of you winning the boat are one to one hundred ninety nine, so the odds against you are 199 to one.
