   You’d have to fill out whatever paperwork is necessary in your state in order to have your organization declared a legitimate non-profit business and/or registered charity. You’d have to keep very detailed accurate records, fill out tax forms, and account for every penny that you take in and give out.
   If you want to do that, start at your state’s Web site. They’ll have the forms you need to fill out.
