do I have to claim this on my taxes?

    Absolutely! This is major income, and the government wants their share. And the company you won the car from has already reported this income to the IRS, so you better be claiming it.

    You prize can’t really include the income taxes you will owe. If they added that in, that would increase the amount of income, and you would owe tax on all that, the prize and the additional money. They might pay the title tax and license fee, but it’s pretty much impossible for them to pay that part of your income tax.
