Selling Raffle Tickets at Football game?

Okay so as a fundraiser for my school’s orchestra program, we are selling $10 raffle tickets in which the grand prize is a car. One way for us to sell the tickets is at our varsity football games on friday nights by just walking around near the concession stands, entrances, etc.

I was wondering, Is there any rules prohibiting me from doing this at the school my cousin goes to during one of their varsity football games?

So long story short, my question is What are the laws/regulations about selling things at a varsity level high school football game?

Are you hoping that your superintendent will be cruising the Yahoo Answers board?

    Ask him/her.

  2. Teekno Says:

In most states, raffles are illegal, as they’re actually a private lottery. In practice, this is overlooked by the police, but if you want to comply with all the laws, odds are you can’t actually have any kind of raffle.

  3. James Says:

In most states raffles are illegal, except when conducted by non-profit organizations and even then sometimes they cannot charge a specific amount for the raffle. The specific details of if the raffle would be legal and what would need to be done to ensure it is legal would depend on the state you’re in.
