I live in iowa and won the car in a raffle.

I am part of a non-profit organization and we have a 2008 Mercedes Benz to auction off to raise funds for our cause (education/public schools). I have done the typical press releases in the local papers but I wanted to also do something online - I tried craiglist but you can't post raffles their site. Does anyone know where I can post information about this without getting flagged for deletion? I have it posted on our website www.kindfaitheducationfoundation.org but unless someone knows where to go to see it they wont find it. Any ideas would be appreciated greatly. Thanks.

I live in California and I just won a new car in a raffle. The car is currently registered to the supermarket that is giving it away. They are requesting that I issue a check to the market for the sales tax and the registration fee that they have already paid for when they bought the car. When they transfer the title to me (they're the one doing the paper work) will I have to pay the sales tax to the DMV for the car again? I know I'm going to have to claim it as an income on my annual tax return.

I have a collector car for sale since 11/11/07. I am looking into raffling it at $10.00 per ticket and printing 2000 tickets. I would donate 25% of the proceeds to "Dream Come True" given all 2000 tickets were sold. I've been thinking of asking my local car club to do this and the donation would be made in their name. Over the past 8 years they have raised over $8,000.00 for this organization. Pennsylvania has tough regs on this,but given that the car club could buy a special license to do this,I believe it could work. Needless to say,I would have a reserve on the car and the raffle would serve 2 purposes. Is it ethical?

I clean cars as a way to earn extra money, Just wanted to hold a $2 raffle for a detail job,, is that legal? thank you!

Is there any danger of people cheating, somehow, with phony tickets for refunds? Should you put a disclaimer right on the tickets and make sure all know who buy?
