I am organizing a raffle, we are trying to figure out what to raffle off. We have $250 to work with. My thought was to get a nice grill (I found a $400 grill on sale for $250), but some people think it would be better to get a gift certificate for $250 to some store.
Now, I think, yes, a gift certificate is a nice idea, but contests don’t give away gift certificates. You don’t see “Win a gift certificate to this auto dealer” you see “win a CAR!”. Why? I think because an ITEM is tangible & exciting, and really seems like alot more than a gift certificate.
The idea is to sell as many tickets as we can.
What are your thoughts?

When you buy a raffle ticket for a car,hamper etc, what number do you try to get? How often does this number win for you? What sought of stuff have you won? Thankyou

Hi, I’ve found some answers while searching the internet to this question, but they’ve been too mathematical or not exactly related to this specific question.

I have the opportunity to buy tickets in 2 different raffles for a car I’d love to have. The tickets are expensive, so I want to only buy 2 tickets.

The raffles each will only sell a maximum of 1,000 tickets. Both still have tickets for sale, but I don’t know how many they have sold – just less than 1,000.

Because of the time frame, both raffles will probably not meet their goal of 1,000 tickets sold – so each raffle will likely have different amounts of tickets sold. Example: 1 raffle sold 893 tickets, the other 980 tickets – so different odds.

Would I have a better chance of winning one of these raffles if I either 1) bought 1 ticket to each; or 2) bought 2 tickets for one.

I only want to buy 2 tickets total.

Thanks to you math heads out there – please make it simple – at least your conclusion.

ok my dad went to the mall and he fill a raffle ticket to win a new car plus money prize. he has been chosen as one of the finalists so is not for sure were gonna win. anyway some lady called us saying we were one of the finalists. she didn’t ask any info. she only told us to go with some keys she is gonna send us and see if we’re the lucky ones that had the key that would open the car. The info like address in phone number were in the raffle ticket but that’s it- my dad didn’t put more info. Are these scams or is it for real?
